Visual Arts Foundation
The ANU Foundation for the Visual Arts was created to offer continuing support for the ANU School of Art and scholarships for students of the visual arts, the Drill Hall Gallery and the ANU Art Collection. For more than 60 years ANU has been building a collection that reflects major developments in Australian art. Several major works have been donated by friends of the University.

In 2011 the Foundation was delighted to support the visiting fellows program which saw the following artists come to campus:
- Adrian Potter -Adrian is a prominent Australian furniture designer and artist known for his work with wood and a range of public art projects in Adelaide. An alumni of the ANU School of Art Potter’s practice has evolved around furniture design, sculptural objects and the project driven world of public art. While on campus Adiran presented a Fringe Forum talk at the School of Art.
- Isabelle Moore - Isabelle is a UK based designer of furniture and industrial products. Her work has been collected in both the UK and USA and her particular field of interest is in chair design with a focus on ergonomics, posture and wellbeing. Isabelle presented to students, staff and the general public through the Art Forum program.
- Vicky Halper - Vicky is a leading international curator of the craft and design arts. While on in Canberra Vicky opened the DesignPlan ACT symposium with a lecture addressed to a packed audience full of students, staff and the broader craft and design community. She also met with staff and alumni in the School's craft workshops.
- Andrzej Zielinski- Andrzej is an American painter who works between New York and Berlin. His paintings take a radical and ironic approach to the representation of contemporary technological gadgetry- laptops, autotellers, laptops, mobile phones etc. exploring a range of contemporary material techniques and approaches to pictorial space. During his visit at the School of Art Andrzej worked closely with undergraduate and post graduate students bringing new teaching and ideas into the school. His impact was extended through participating in assessments and reviews providing benchmarking opportunities for the School.
- Iain McGilchrist- British writer and psychiatrist, Iain McGilchrist visited the ANU in September 2011 as a keynote speaker at the Australian Council of University Art and Design Schools (ACUADS) Conference titled Creativity Brain Mind Body hosted at the ANU School of Art and the University of Canberra.
The foundation was delighted to support 'Abstraction' an exhibition held at the Drill Hall Gallery in 2011. The exhibition brought together and juxtaposed the work of ten abstractionists–five painters and five sculptors–and included the work of Michael Buzacott, Virgina Coventry, Paul Hopmeier, Roy Jackson, Jan King, Allan Mitelman, John Peart, James Rogers, Paul Selwood and Aida Tomescu.
